About WV State Senator Charles H. “Charlie” Clements

Charles H. “Charlie” Clements is a Republican State Senator for West Virginia Senate District 2, which includes Doddridge, Marion, Marshall, Monongalia, Tyler, and Wetzel counties.

In the First Session of the 86th Legislature, Clements is Chair; WV Senate Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure; Vice Chair, WV Senate Committee on Banking and Insurance; Vice Chair, WV Senate Committee on Pensions.

In the interim legislative session, Clements serves as Chair, WV Senate Committee on Department of Transportation Accountability, Chair, WV Senate Committee on Infrastructure, Chair, WV Senate Committee on Mine Reclamation; Chair, WV Senate Committee on Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority.

Charlie has served in the WV Senate since 2017. Prior to that, he served the WV Legislature in the House of Delegates from 1994-1996. He holds an A.B., Mathematics, from West Virginia University. Clements also attended the University of Virginia’s Program for Political Leaders.

A retired independent businessman, he has a diverse professional and personal background, including service with the U.S. Army, as well as a football official for more than 40 years, and with a number of civic organizations.

Clements is the former Executive Director of the West Virginia Route 2 and Interstate 68 Authority, and a former Office Manager for H&R Block.

He’s been an active Rotarian for more than 50 years. Charlie is a past a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, a past member of the West Virginia Oil Marketers and Grocers Association, as well as a past member of the Ohio-West Virginia Football Officials Association.

Charles and Eugenia Clements were married March 1, 1968, and they have two children: Paul and Judy. In their spare time, the Clements enjoy traveling and river cruising among other activities.
